Print Maps
Online maps are great for planning, researching, and reviewing potential trips, but you should always have a physical map in hand when you actually get out for your adventure. Here are some of our favorites in the region:
North Bay
Rambler’s Guide to Mt. Tamalpais and the Marin Headlands, by Olmsted & Bros. Map Co. is bar far the best map for the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, Mt. Tamalpais, and Pine Mountain areas.
Trails of Northeast Marin County from Pease Press shows the area from China Camp State Park to Mt. Burdell. http://www.peasepress.com/
Point Reyes National Seashore and West Marin Parklands from Wilderness Press is a great map for Point Reyes and the surrounding area.
A new series of maps by Tom Harrison Maps covers most of Marin in excellent detail, from the Golden Gate to Mt. Tamalpais, and Point Reyes to Mt. Burdell
360Geographics publishes several excellent trail maps showing China Camp, Annadel, Jack London, and Sugarloaf state parks - http://www.360geographics.com/360maps/
East Bay
Mt. Diablo, Los Vaqueros, and Surrounding Parks, an excellent new map from Save Mount Diablo, extends from Mt. Diablo State Park east to Black Diamond Mines and Morgan Territory. See here.
East Bay Regional Park District has excellent trail maps on it's website at certain trailheads or you can order by mail.
South Bay and the Peninsula
Trails of the Coastside and Northern Peninsula by Pease Press is a great map that includes Montara Mountain and San Bruno Mountain.
Santa Clara County Parks has maps at its trailheads and PDF maps on its Web site; these are also available by mail.
Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District maps are available at its trailheads, by mail, and as PDFs from its Web site.
Maps for San Mateo County Parks are also available at entrance stations, by mail, and from its website.
